“My nigga CH just came straight out the mountains!”
Just the type of randomness we all love to see on a Friday. The story behind this is that Charles Hamilton just happened to waltz into a Harlem barbershop while Serius Jones was getting a haircut. Hamilton declared that he wanted a rematch of their light-hearted battle a few years back at S.O.B.’s. The circumstances are very different now. Before, Charles Hamilton had a strong buzz and was being viewed by some as the next breakout rookie. Now, his career is almost non-existent following a series of ill-timed public statements and personal addictions. From his haggard appearance, it appears some of those issues are still ongoing.
Hamilton had some ok lines, but the majority of his words were thrown off by the fact his flow was so disjointed. Serious Jones has never had such a problem. When he found the time to stop laughing, he ended Hamilton’s shot a victory with a few simple, but highly effective punchlines (“I got the spirit in me/ It’s like hello Biggie/ Look at this nigga’s hat/ Hello Kitty!”).
“He’s desperate, I understand,” Jones said with a laugh before leaving the shop. “I get paid to battle; I was just getting a haircut. I understand the game…times is hard on the boulevard!”
Add this clip to Charles Hamilton’s list of head-shaking moments. The kid has talent though, and I think he has a lot of potential as a producer. Hopefully, he can refine his sound and bring it all together.
