Even the hardest, most ruthless gangsters and gangbangers have those that love them. Murs and 9th Wonder delve into the aftermath of what those left behind deal with when said gangster meets his inevitable end. Murs and 9th Wonder’s final collaboration, aptly titled The Final Adventure, will hit stores on November 13 and can be pre-ordered HERE.

There’s nothing worse than an ex that doesn’t quite get the picture that it’s over. Or better yet, an ex that conveniently pops back on the scene when you’re doing well. Murs and 9th address this phenomenon from the male perspective on “It’s Over,” the first offering off their forthcoming album Final Adventure.

With This Generation hitting stores yesterday, Murs and Fashawn have released a video for their upbeat title track. The album can be purchased HERE.

Murs and Fashawn take their lyrical talents to space for the first video off their forthcoming Duck Down album This Generation (September 25). The video is directed by Todd Angkasuwan.

Murs and Fashawn have joined forces for a new, Duck Down-backed album entitled This Generation. The duo officially introduced themselves via “Slash Gordan,” a track notable for its nice back and forth rhymes. The project will be entirely produced by Beatnick & K–Salaam and is due out on September 25.

With Frank Ocean’s recent coming out, there was no time like the present for Murs to drop a video for his controversial gay love narrative “Animal Style.” When I interviewed Murs last year, he mentioned the track was made after conversations with his gay friends and  wanting to start serious dialogue in the Hip-Hop community. As a married man who still cringes when he sees two gay men being affectionate, Murs details below how he overcame is own personal hangups to star in the video.

Animal Style is a song I did for many reasons. The first was to be an advocate for people close to me who are out, and those who have yet to come out. It’s also a love song, which is nothing new for me. But with this one I wanted to challenge the listener to ask themselves:

Is the love shared by two people of the same gender, really that different from the love I have for my partner of the opposite sex? And finally, I just felt it was crucial for some of us in the hip hop community to speak up on the issues of teen suicide, bullying, and the overall anti-homosexual sentiment that exist within hip hop culture. I felt so strongly about these issues and this song that I had to do a video that would command some attention, even if it makes some viewers uncomfortable. Even if it came at the cost of my own comfort.

Do you agree with Murs’ stance? Drop your thoughts.

Tonight we take a trip out West for this informal interview between good friends Murs and DJ Quik. Some of the topics covered include the importance of live instrumentation, their favorite Eazy-E track and Quik’s permed out hair from the Rhythm-al-ism era. Nice to see two legends reminisce on their time in the game. Quik’s latest LP, The Book of David, is in stores now.
