Now this is the smoked-out Wiz Khalifa we all know and love. The Pittsburgh emcee drops a simple yet effective video for one of the better tracks off his recent album O.N.I.F.C. The clip is directed by Frank Paladino.

Hit the J, Anna Mae! This new video from The Game is part ode to the green leaf and part narrative on his woman’s aversion to it. Pretty sure she’s getting a contact high regardless.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has ruled that middleweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will face a nine month suspension and $900,000 fine for his positive marijuana test following a decision loss to Sergio Martinez last September.

Per Boxingscene.com, the Commission made the ruling via a 3-2 vote. The $900,000 represents 30% of Chavez Jr.’s $3 million purse.

The hefty fine and suspension comes due to the fact Chavez Jr. previously tested positive for a banned substance, the weight-loss diuretic Furosemide, back in 2009.

The suspension starts from the date of the fight (September 15), meaning Chavez Jr. can return to the ring on June 15.

At press time, Chavez Jr. is planning to make a summer return against either Matthew Macklin or Top Rank stablemate Vanes Martirosyan.

While that $900k would hurt anyone’s pockets, Chavez Jr.’s career still gets to go along as planned with a lead-in summer fight then the Martinez rematch by the end of this year.

Now, those plans might get seriously derailed should he face Matthew Macklin. I was in attendance when he blew away Joachim Alcine last September and that’s a very tough fight for Chavez. Unfortunately, I doubt that Top Rank takes that risk and will opt for the safer in-house opponent in Martirosyan.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will have the opportunity to explain his second positive drug test to the Nevada State Athletic Commission as he faces the possibility of another fine and suspension.

Chavez Jr., who dropped a lopsided unanimous decision to Sergio Martinez last Saturday despite scoring a 12th round knockdown, tested positive for marijuana following the bout and was the only fighter out of 32 participants to deliver a positive drug test.

Chavez Jr. was previously suspended for seven months and fined $10,000 in 2009 for testing positive for Furosemide, a banned substance that assists in weight loss. Chavez Jr.’s win over Troy Rowland was overturned to a No Contest.

At press time, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is hoping to stage a Chavez Jr.-Martinez rematch in Texas at Dallas Stadium. Martinez, citing Texas’ controversial judging history and previously misplacement of Chavez Jr. drug results, has publicly declined the venue proposal.

Through this short film entitled ”Formation,” director Rel chronicles several NYC days in the life of Homeboy Sandman. It’s notable, especially for this website, in that it focuses on Sandman’s father Angel Del Villar, a former Golden Gloves winner who fought at Madison Square Garden. His father’s achievements in boxing would inspire Sandman to forego a possible law career to pursue his dream to be a rapper. This film also delves into Sandman’s creative process and addictions.

Homeboy Sandman’s debut Stones Throw project, First of a Living Breed, is due out on September 18.

SHREVEPORT, LA — Rick Ross was released with a misdemeanor summons after being arrested last night (March 24) for marijuana possession.

The arrest happened at a Shreveport hotel. A police report details that authorities smelled strong marijuana ordor from Ross’ room. Upon inspection police found a gram of the drug.

Ross was in Shreveport for a concert appearance. Yesterday, Rick Ross also announced the signing of critically acclaimed singer and songwriter Teedra Moses to his Maybach Music Group.

At press time, Rick Ross has not released a statement on the arrest.

C’mon Rick, towel under the door at all times! Being that rapper’s have significant entourages and groupies with them, I’m sure that hotel room wasn’t exactly quiet. Luckily for Ross it was just weed and not any guns or more serious drugs in that room.

Marijuana and musicians have an unbreakable bond. Mary Jane has served as a creative stimulant for centuries, resulting in countless, and occasionally brilliant, expressions of art. Many have said they “love” Mary Jane, but I can’t recall anyone willing to seal that love with marriage. LA emcee Richard Wright has done just that with the song “Marry Mary Jane,” a track off the presently untitled, Spring 2011 compilation album from Illregular Instrumentals.

The track has the slow-moving, haze-induced vibe you’d expect from a weed anthem. From the hypnotic piano loop to Wright’s dragging vocals, the song relaxes and dulls your senses whether you’re a smoker or not.

“Marry Mary Jane” is produced by Bombay. The video director is Alex Frantz Ghassan. Illregular Instrumentals is offering the download for free as long as you tweet the track. Lighter’s up.

Wiz Khalifa is facing two felony charges after being arrested at his concert last night (November 8) at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Khalifa, named MTV’s Breakthrough Rapper of the Year, was in town for his headlining national tour Waken Baken. As a big advocate of marijuana in his music, Khalifa earlier in the day encouraged fans via Twitter to attend with their ”finest plant life.”

He was arrested at his tour bus and now faces two felony counts of trafficking marijuana and storage/distribution. Khalifa also faces a misdemeanor charge for drug paraphernalia. Nine members of his camp were reportedly arrested with him.

Wiz Khalifa was released earlier today and dropped a quick statement to fans on Twitter.

“Jail sux! But being Taylor’d doesn’t,” he said.

At press time, Wiz Khalifa’s court date has not been disclosed.

Like many of you reading this, I’ve been to so many Hip-Hop concerts where the air was thick with marijuana smoke. In fact, I was at a Wiz Khalifa show this past April where people were falling out. Why this was such a problem at this location will be interesting to find out.

From the small details so far, I’m think it’s something tied to the fact it was on school grounds. It’s possible this school may have strict policies against drugs and maybe a faculty member or student reported what was happening. At my college, we were deprived of seeing 50 Cent back in 2003. It was because a student had written a letter to faculty stating that 50′s image and criminal background was counter-productive to the school. I was heated being that the switch happened the day off the show, and this was when 50 was red-hot and a month out from dropping Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

Stuff like this normally amounts to a slap on the wrist. But the fact that he got charged with felony counts means there was likely a substantial amount of weed on that bus. I guess Wiz wasn’t lying about his habit being $10,000 a month.
