“You see its leaders and its followers/ I’d rather be a dick than a swallower…”

Kanye West has made ranting a signature staple of his public persona. For his new hologram video “New Slaves,” which debuted yesterday on buildings in 66 locations across the world, West colors his usual angst with black rage aimed at the rampant materialism and racism in society. You’ll note from the above quote that ‘Ye uses societal problems to justify his self-described asshole behavior. Whether you agree with his perspective or not, it’s always welcome when mainstream Hip-Hop artists try their hand at serious, relevant topics over the usual BS (and in Kanye’s case, he didn’t embarrass himself or the culture like LL Cool J a few weeks back with that “Accidental Racist” monstrosity).

Could have done without the self-indulgent, singing outro though.

Here are the simple but effective visuals for Pusha T’s hot single “Numbers On the Boards.” I was surprised over the last few weeks to hear some people didn’t care for the beat. This is the type of odd but menacing production that the Neptunes had the Clipse eating off of for years.

Pusha’s debut, My Name Is My Name, is due out July 16.

Game heads to Texas for this week’s soulful “Sunday Service” drop. Kanye and Cool and Dre handle the production, which features the soul loop sound that was a staple of Ye’s production in his early years. The Texas boys all come with terse but efficient and quick bars. Because of that, the song rolls (no pun intended) along nicely despite the loaded lineup. If you wondering why this album quality track is being offered for free, per Game it was intended for Jesus Piece (right after the title track in sequence) but the sample couldn’t be cleared.

Kanye West has some familiarity with diamond-themed songs. With Rihanna’s Unapologetic now on the net, the Bajan beauty drops a surprise remix of her lead single featuring West going in for the song’s first half. It feels more “mixtape freestyle” that a true original collaboration, but Ye’s verse rocks out enough that you won’t mind. Rihanna’s Unapologetic officially drops this coming Tuesday (November 19).

Not to rest on the pop laurels of last week’s “The Boys” video with Cassie, Nicki gets a much grittier today with a behind-the-scenes video for “Come On a Cone.” Directed by Grizz Lee, there’s a bunch of assorted cameos from the likes of Waka Flocka, Tyga, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Birdman. And the ending “dick in your face” singing melody will elicit at least a chuckle. This track can be found on Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album.

It’s been awhile since Kanye rhymed over something this straight-forward. If you didn’t know any better, you’d might think this was something left over from the Late Registration to Graduation years. Good to know this Kanye still exists. After that, check out some of the other leaked tracks below featuring Ghostface, M.O.P., Pharoahe Monch and Idle Warship. The rest can be streamed HERE, where you can also purchase the 5 CD limited edition boxset soundtrack.

Pusha T drops the first offering off what’s scheduled to be his 2013 solo debut. Kanye West is back behind the boards for a brooding yet upbeat track that has traces of that old Clipse-Neptunes sound. Although Future sounds disinterested on the chorus, this is a nice track that will fit in well on the album if they include it.

Today’s Cruel Summer leak is chock full of old school goodness and nods. First is the iconic Honeydrippers drum break, the seminal “Hey!” James Brown vocal sample, and finally topped by a Ghostface loop from “Mighty Healthy”. Godly, indeed. Lyrically, this is one of Ye’s better offerings post- Watch the Throne. Pusha holds down his segments too. Overall, a well-made track even with the Kanye’s one-man boot camp training chant at the end.

Blood and revolution in the Czech streets are just a few of themes and symbolism found in this Roman Gravas-directed video for The Throne’s “No Church In the Wild.” Still hoping we get a video for “New Day.”

This song sounds a lot better in the hands of upper echelon emcees. Pusha sets this off right and Kanye follows suit. The momentum isn’t as strong from Keef’s verse forward, but it’s doubtful you’ll list this remix amongst things you “don’t like.”
