Kendrick Lamar opts for a clever, metaphoric video for his latest video off his critically acclaimed good kid M.A.D.D. City album. At the end, I’m sure most sensible people will cosign who the “funeral” is for.

Leaked a few weeks back, we finally get the version of “100$ Bill” off The Great Gatsby soundtrack (which Jay is also executive-produced). While it’s debatable if this type of sound would be effective as the backbone of a Jay-Z album, it works good here. The full Great Gatsby soundtrack drops on May 7.
JAY-Z “100$ BILL”
With news breaking that his ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets isn’t as big as he’s claimed in rhymes (surprise, surprise, a rapper exaggerating his wealth), Jay-Z has taken to the booth to address his critics.
Jay’s synopsis is pretty much what you’d expect — I made an excellent investment and have more money than you to make moves with. As a Knicks fan, I’d say Mr. Carter is cashing out at the right time.
Damn… well we all have to start somewhere. Jay “started from the bottom” alright with this video that looks like it was jacked from Pac and Jada’s home video or an Adult Swim short. And Jay’s outfit shows he had an affinity for pink way before Cam’Ron blew it up in the early 2000s.

After a nice bait and switch with the intro beat, Timbaland goes into some smooth R&B production that’s ready-made for steppers and would’ve have been great for the summer. Surprisingly, Jay-Z’s verse is cool but considering the atomsphere, you’re left wondering how someone like Andre 3000, who’s made a living off R&B features the last few years, would have approached it. Hell, that intro beat is right up Drake’s alley. Aside from some juvenile crassness in the second verse lyrics (the “phatty” talk) that takes away from the elegance of the arrangements, there’s not much to complain about. Timberlake’s forthcoming Timbaland-produced album will be titled The 20/20 Experience. The song can be purchased HERE via iTunes.
JUSTIN TIMBERLKAE X JAY-Z “SUIT & TIE”
Guilty Simpson and Apollo Brown have joined forces for “Reputation,” an ode to their native city of Detroit. Using words such as “uncompromising,” “soulful” and “gritty” to describe their sound, the track reworks the familiar Yvonne Fair sample to give it a little extra thump to Simpson’s vivid lyrics. The duo is set to drop a full album entitled Dice Game that can be pre-ordered HERE.
