Pac Div ft. Blu & Kendrick Lamar – “Cross Trainers”

Just a look at the lineup is really enough to know this track is going to be quality. Producer Swiff D supplies a beat heavy on the 808s but fleshed out with record scratches and a torrid pace. The emcees all uphold their end of the bargain as well. Div’s new album, GMB, is set to drop on November 27.

[VIDEO] Blu & Exile “Give Me My Flowers…” Album Trailer
Posted: June 13, 2012 in UncategorizedTags: Blu, Exile, Give Me My Flowers While I Can Smell Them, release date, trailer, video
Back in December, a full unmastered album from Blu & Exile surfaced on bandcamp entitled Give Me Flowers While I Can Smell Them. Beneath the bad sound quality, there was some good music there is much need of an official release. That day will be September 4 as the trio announced via a new video trailer. Fans can expect new music and added instrumentation on the retained songs. The project will be preceded by a 10″ EP called Maybe One Day (July24) that can be pre-ordered HERE.
Sene and Blu link up for this dope track off the former’s upcoming Brooklyknight album (April 24, Plug Research). A sparse violin and some hard-hitting drums are the only backdrop these two emcees need to hold your attention. In the case of Blu, it’s great to hear him again over production been mixed and mastered.
Blu & Madlib “UCLA” [Album Stream & Download]
Posted: February 19, 2012 in Music NewsTags: Blu, download, Madlib, stream, UCLA
Blu and Madlib have released a full stream on their new collaboration project UCLA. Unfortunately, like the December bandcamp stream of Blu and Exile’s Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them, this release is unmixed or mastered, thus not justifying the $15 price tag. However, the quality and potential of the album shines through on tracks like “Burgandy Whip,” “What U C” and “Call My Nga.” All the production is handled by Madlib and UCLA features appearances from Co$$, Jack Spade, Lil Stoney, M.E.D. and others. No complaints here about that cover.
UPDATE
Turns out Blu dropped this without the involvement of Madlib or his permission, according to Stones Throw Records. The stream has been taken down, but this download link is still available. Get it while it lasts.
Jesus Christ is the further thing for most people’s minds on Super Bowl Sunday, but Blu is here to remind us of the day the Lord has made. Produced by Madlib, this video features animation and LA “slices of life” visuals. The point in showing only sparse religious institutions like churches it to impart on the viewer that the divine is everywhere, even amongst the gangsters and street-walkers. Well done…
