Prediction: As expected, Lopez looked a little soft at the weigh-in scaling another weight class to be the big underdog tonight against natural junior middleweight Canelo Alvarez. Canelo has lulls in his defense, but not enough to give Lopez the opportunities to land the huge haymakers on Alvarez that broke Victor Ortiz’s jaw in June. In addition, Canelo works much better behind the jab and will have an easier time setting up his powerful right hand. Lopez will put forth a great effort, but this is a weight climb too high. Expect a very entertaining battle with Canelo’s size and power have a greater effect in the middle rounds in route to a 9th round TKO.
