Drake has taken his Aaliyah fandom to the next level. The result is a rather enjoyable posthumous down-tempo track that would have fit nicely on Aaliyah’s last, self-titled album. Timbaland might not approve, but this is actually the type of track you could envision Aaliyah making with an artist like Drake in 2012. Aside from Drake referencing the word “bitch” in his lyrics (which is out of place on a record from Aaliyah, an artist who was big on female empowerment), there’s not much that you can really complain about on this one. Make you wonder how smooth an Aaliyah-40 EP or album would have been.
