Floyd Mayweather will make a public pledge today of $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity’s Blitz Build 2012, a program aimed at building a five-family home in five days.

Mayweather’s donation makes him the lead sponsor in the building project set to take place in the Vegas Heights section of Las Vegas.

“We truly appreciate Floyd’s support in helping us to reach our mission of providing simple, decent, affordable homes for working families through Las Vegas,” said Meg Delor, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity’s Las Vegas site. “Habitat for Humanity’s continuing efforts in neighborhoods such as Vegas Heights helps ensure that these communities will stabilize for everyone living there and bring new working families into the community.”

Mayweather’s efforts come roughly one week after he donated $100,000 to breast cancer research through Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“I am happy to support Habitat for Humanity, a special organization that has done excellent work in Las Vegas to provide housing for needy families in the area,” Mayweather stated. “My boxing career has afforded me the opportunity to make charitable contribution to worthy causes and I believe the Blitz Build project is one of those causes.”

********UPDATE*******

It turns out that this “diss” is a fan blend of old Canibus verses. Even Ras Kass was temporarily fooled. Still no statement from the other group members yet on why Ras Kass left the HRSMN.

This didn’t take long. Over the weekend, Ras Kass announced he was leaving the HRSMN over undisclosed internal differences. Today, Canibus releases this track aimed at his former bandmate. It comes off as your typical Canibus battle rap until a drop spelling out Kass’ name in the middle of the song let’s you know who this is directed at.

Ras seems to be enjoying this since he posted the diss on his Twitter. Killah Priest and Kurupt are probably somewhere shaking their heads.

A ruptured left bicep injury to Andre Berto has resulted in the cancellation of his February 11 rematch against Victor Ortiz.

Berto suffered the injury while training today in Van Nuys, California. The rupture diagnosis was disseminated amongst media late Monday evening.

“He had to go the hospital to get it checked out and he is hurt,” a source told ESPN. ”I know the fight is in jeopardy of not happening on that date. It didn’t sound good.”

Their April 2011 bout was a high Fight of the Year contender that featured each fighter getting knocked down twice. The exciting battle resulted in the winner, Victor Ortiz, facing Floyd Mayweather last September. Berto would recover from his defeat by winning the IBF welterweight title that same month against Jan Zaveck. He has since vacated that title to avenge his only defeat over a mandatory defense.

TV promotion for the anticipated rematch was set to begin Wednesday (February 1) with an episode of Showtime’s Fight Camp 360.

At press time, Andre Berto is rumored to be undergoing surgery tonight.

One year after entering the International Boxing Hall of Fame, former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will be the recipient of a second induction honoring his ring exploits as a WWE performer.

World Wrestling Entertainment will induct Tyson on March 31 in Miami, the day before the 28th installment of the company’s biggest annual event, Wrestlemania.

“I am honored to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame,” said Tyson in a prepared statement. “I was the youngest heavyweight champion of all time, but the most fun I ever had in the ring was with WWE.”

Tyson began a working relationship with WWE in 1998 while serving an indefinite suspension for biting off Evander Holyfield’s ear the previous year. Tyson worked as a special referee for the Wrestlemania XIV main event between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. He reportedly received $3 million for the role.

Tyson returned to WWE in 2011 on an episode of Monday Night RAW where he helped Triple H and Shawn Michaels defeat Chris Jericho.

Tyson will be the only non-wrestling celebrity inducted this year along with in-ring competitors Mil Mascaras, Edge and the Four Horsemen.

This trailer for the celebratory “Just a Toast” is like a 90s Wu-Tang skit come to life. Exaggerated vows of undying brotherhood and friendship? Check. Funny spins on regular everyday phrases? Check. As expected, the room cracked after the taping finished. I do believe the actor showering Rae with praise is the guy who played the Jamaican drug dealer Ox in Belly.

With Miguel Cotto refusing to rematch Manny Pacquiao at welterweight, Bob Arum has confirmed Timothy Bradley as the next likely opponent to face Pacquiao on June 9.

The undefeated Bradley made his debut under the Top Rank banner in November on the Pacquiao-Marquez III undercard, winning a late TKO over Joel Casamayor. However, Arum also explained that a Pacquiao-Cotto rematch could still happen if Miguel reconsidered leaving the junior middleweight division.

“Does it look closer to being Bradley? It looks closer to being Bradley, obviously, by the process of elimination,” Arum told Ring TV. “Pacquiao’s opponent will be decided late this week. We’ve got plenty of time.”

“What happens if Miguel Cotto comes back and says, ‘Okay, I’ll make the weight? That opens up another possibility. But right now, he’s saying that he wouldn’t.”

At press time, Arum has ended any negotiations with Floyd Mayweather to make a Pacquiao fight for May 5.

Former WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan made a formal annoucement of his engagement to New York native Faryl Makhdoom last night at a private engagement party in Bolton, England’s Reebok Stadium.

Attended by roughly 1,000 of the couples closest friends and relatives, the couple exchanged rings and took pictures for gathered media.

The 20-year old Makhdoom is still in college but plans to relocated to Khan’s Bolton hometown this year.

Khan is hopeful to get back the ring this spring against Lamont Peterson, who defeated him by split decision last month. While supportive of his career, Makhdoom has vowed never to watch her future husband fight live.

Frank Ocean “Voodoo”

“Our daughters and our sons are just candles in the sun…”

Frank Ocean took to his Tumblr earlier this evening to drop a highly poetic short ballad entitled “Voodoo.” It’s not a tome on the African religion but a reflection on love being the main tool in recognizing the deceptions (voodoo) of the world. Ocean uses excellent imagery in describing the insatiable vigor of youthful sensuality (“He’s got the whole wide world in his pants…”) maturing into the lifelong commitment of marriage (“He wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band…”). You’re left wanting more which is exactly the feeling Ocean wants heading into his spring debut.

darker times

they’re telling boulder heavy lies

looks like all we’ve got is each other

the truth is obsolete

remember when all i had was my mother

she didn’t compromise

she could recognize

voodoo

our daughters and our sons

are just candles in the sun

voodoo

don’t let him see divide

don’t you let her see divide

voodoo

she’s got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit

he’s got the whole wide world in his pants

he wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band

then put the whole wide world on her hands

she’s got the whole wide world in her hands

he’s got the whole wide world in his hands.

Ras Kass has confirmed the HRSMN are no more. In a short video posted earlier today, Kass announced he is leaving the supergroup also comprised of Killah Priest, Kurupt and Canibus due to undisclosed disagreements.

The announcement comes just days after the leak of a 2011 diss record Canibus made to Slaughterhouse, who were rumored to appear on the HRSMN’s still unreleased official debut.

Since their first single “Abide By” in the late 90s, the HRSMN have recorded close to a dozen collaborations over their solo catalogues. In 2003, the HRSMN released a their only ”album” to date, a nine track compilation entitled The Horsemen Project.

Saigon creates a literal interpretation to his metaphoric hunger in this latest video off Warning Shots 3. Sai also brings sustained energy to this song with his flow and mannerisms so that the two minutes go real quick. If you haven’t checked out the entire project, Warning Shots 3 can be downloaded HERE.
