“This fight is going to be about quickness…”

The second edition of 24/7 Pacquiao vs. Marquez finds Marquez focusing on retaining speed in training, and Pacquiao’s political work in his Filipino province. Fans will get to see Marquez’s new strength and conditioning coach Angel Hernandez, who is trying to correct the weight-gaining mistakes Marquez in preparation for Floyd Mayweather.

SONORA, MEXICO — Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (32-2, 25 KOs) closed the book on his budding Luis Concepcion (23-3, 18 KOs) rivalry with three emphatic knockdowns in route to a shocking first round TKO.

Concepcion started aggressively with left jabs. Marquez responded by timing the punch with cuffing right hooks that knocked Concepcion off-balance. Undeterred, Concepcion continued jabbing forward and firing right crosses and uppercuts. Marquez countered with another right hook which badly stunned Concepcion before several more hooks deposited him on the canvas.

Concepcion got up quickly and was immediately assaulted with more power shots. Marquez bullied Concepcion to the ropes and scored a second knockdown, again off a short right hook. Concepcion unwisely tried to stand his ground, throwing a haymaker right which Marquez promptly countered with a left cross for the third knockdown and referee stoppage.

The rematch victory is Marquez’s second WBA flyweight title defense since winning the belt from Concepcion in April.

Common’s video for his excellent single “Blue Sky” focuses on residents in an apartment building pursuing their individual talents (writer, athlete, dancer, painter, singer etc.). This track will be on his upcoming album The Dreamer/The Believer.

On November 5, you can expect a firefight when junior middleweight sluggers Alfredo Angulo and James Kirkland face off in what is now a crossroads bout. HBO commentators Bob Papa, Max Kellerman and Roy Jones Jr. break down the advantages and stakes for both men. This is one fight that’s guaranteed not to go to a decision.

Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz are now in the record books as the second highest grossing non-heavyweight title fight with a confirmed 1.25 million pay-per-view buys and $78,440,00.00 in revenue.

The numbers further solidify Mayweather as the biggest pay-per-view attraction of all-time. The new figures make him a part of the three highest-grossing non-heavyweight pay-per-views in boxing history via his bouts against Oscar De La Hoya ($136,853,700), Victor Ortiz ($78,440,000) and Shane Mosley ($78,330,000).

Despite negative press from legal problems outside of boxing and convoluted issues regarding a Pacquiao fight, Mayweather says his continued pay-per-view success shows the loyalty of his fans.

“My motto is ‘hard work and dedication’ and I have shown this throughout my entire career, which has allowed me to go out and perform each time I step in the ring,” said Mayweather in a prepared statement. “I give the fans everything I have with the best competition and exciting fights.  I must be doing something right as they keep buying my fights and I appreciate their tremendous support.  It feels good to be able to generate such a great interest in the sport.”

At press time, Mayweather has not announced his next opponent.

Floyd Mayweather has been acquitted of misdemeanor harassment charges stemming from an October 2010 incident where he allegedly threatened two security guards at his Las Vegas home.

The acquittal was made after Las Vegas Lady of the Peace Diana Sullivan ruled that the armed guards were not convincing that they feared for their lives.

The incident occurred when the guards, representing Mayweather’s Southern Highlands gated community, put parking tickets on several of Mayweather’s 29 vehicles.

“My homies have guns,” Mayweather is alleged to have responded. “If you want me to call them they’d come over here and take care of you.”

Mayweather attorney Richard Wright argued on cross-examination that the guards were pressured to file the lawsuit by Southern Highlands. In January, the community filed a $10,000 lawsuit against Mayweather over his several security guard confrontations.

Mayweather will return to court November 4 to answer a misdemeanor battery charge for poking another Southern Highland security guard in the face. On December 21, an evidence hearing will be held regarding felony assault charges against his ex-girlfriend and children’s mother.

Ne-Yo and company tribute their favorite women of the pole. Calling a stripper ode “classy” is a stretch, but this is not as raunchy as you’d expect considering the topic. T-Pain, who doesn’t have a bad natural singing voice, should have considered putting the autotune on the shelf for this one.

“I make hardcore shit with a splash of wisdom/ So niggas learn something when I diss ‘em”

The Clipse themselves have gone on record to state the love isn’t that strong in their home state of Virigina. Now we have further lyrical proof of that courtesy of an emcee that goes by Ambassador Rick. While most thought Pusha T’s “Don’t Fuck With Me” freestyle was throwing shots at Drake, turns out the most direct line was about Rick, who had a prominent local single using a Trey Songz sample for the hook (Local niggas hatin’ but I can’t blame ‘em/ Clear the road to the riches but I can’t pave ‘em/ Put Trey on your hook/ Still can’t save ‘em”). As this response shows, Rick has the skills if Pusha is so inclined for a battle. At times I hear a flashes of Jay-Z’s flow circa ’96. We’ll see where things go.
