“I don’t want to explain to her [my wife] anymore that I’m doing well. I want to show her.”

Oscar De La Hoya is a out of rehab and discussing in-depth the drug problems, alcoholism, womanizing and depression that he claims nearly led to a suicide. Even now talking about it after three months clean, he can’t pinpoint what void was missing in his life that led him down this road.

Cyhi the Prynce is back with Jack of All Trades, a concept mixtape intent on showing his skills over a collection of classic beats. On the intro, Cyhi boasts that he made this project in just a week. Unfortunately, that short timeframe shows as a negative in the fact that most of these tracks have just one verse, making this more a collection of loose freestyles than a full-fledged concept project. Nonetheless, it’s always interesting to hear a new artist attempt to do justice to the culture’s seminal tracks. The classics touched on here include “Thuggish Ruggish Bone,” “Elevators,” and “Picture Me Rollin’.” The “Hip Hop Hooray” remake “,Teach-Her,” (“You trick off and paaay hoooes!”) is hilarious.

If she keeps this up, dance-pop singer Neon Hitch may want to consider switching genres. The English singer is back on the streets of NYC with yet another Hip-Hop cover, this time of Kreayshawn’s ”Gucci Gucci.” I’m not fond of the original, but I like the minimalist, heavy bass backdrop Hitch uses with this cover. Vocally, I prefer her natural voice over her nasal inflections when attempting to rhyme. If you missed it, here’s a link to last month’s cover of Wiz Khalifa’s “On My Level.” I’m noticing appearance-wise a lot of these girls come off like Amy Winehouse’s daughters.

If you were a fighter getting a big purse, what would be the first thing you spent money on? Saul Alvarez and Erik Morales, both of whom have made millions in their careers, reveal their early purchases in this latest blog entry ahead of their PPV bouts on September 17′s Mayweather-Ortiz undercard. In addition, both men give insight on who they keep around during training camps. I’m not surprised to see that Morales is a thinking man’s fighter even outside the ring.

What did you buy with your first big check? What TV shows do you watch that help you relax after a good day of training? Do you live alone during training? who are your roommates?

ERIK MORALES

The first thing I bought when I capture my first world belt was few computers for the school where I studied in Tijuana, Baja California. For me it was a great satisfaction to do that. It was certainly one of the best things I’ve done and thanks to the world title.

I love a lot of films that leave you some teaching. The romantic are some of them and of course I like a lot those movies of drama. For example I love the classics of Mexican cinema’s great films as Macario with the great Ignacio Lopez Tarzo. I don’t like horror films because honestly are not of my desire. It’s like a waste of time.

Yes, but surrounded by my team who is usually very large, especially in championship fights where I need so many people.”

No one. I sleep alone and as I said before my team is always with me.

SAUL ALVAREZ

I always had the desire for a car and the first thing I bought was a car. That was one of my greatest dreams and thanks God I got it!

I like to watch action movies and the comic are my favorites. Those ones entertain me after going to train really hard. I get to relax at my house and when I have spare time I like to see those movies!

I do not live alone. Also are my coaches and colleagues!

My roommate is my coach Eddy Reynoso. We have a lot of time together and there is a great respect and camaraderie between us as we talk of many things in life and in general on my fights. Eddy is astudent of boxing and really we have a great time!

Manny Pacquiao’s training is officially on as of yesterday (August 30) for his November 12 rubbermatch with Juan Manuel Marquez. As expected, the work was light and not too serious. Pacquiao looks in ok shape, probably somewhere in the 150s. It’ll be interesting to watch the improvements in his hand speed over the next two months.

While Def Jam and Young Jeezy have settled on September 20 for TM103‘s release date, fans can still look forward to more music via a sequel to The Real Is Back. The original dropped just 3 months ago, so there’s a good chance that this sequel will be full of additional songs that failed to make TM103. Although this trailer definitely has an epic feel, it would have been much more effective with some music previews mixed in. At press time, The Real Is Back 2 has no set street date.

Swizz Beatz takes listeners down R&B and Hip-Hop memory lane with this remix to Estelle’s “Break My Heart.” Those who grew up on the East Coast, particularly in the Tri-State area, will be reminded of the 90s R&B/Hip-Hop mashups found on that era’s mixtapes. The beats range from Zhane’s ”Sending My Love” to KRS-One’s ”The Bridge Is Over” to Audio Two’s “Top Billin’.” If it’s a remix, you know Busta Rhymes will end up on it.

“It’s rubbish to watch but he gets the result that he needs”

Carl Froch has never lacked confidence and nothing’s changed when he breaks down his Super Six finals about against Andre Ward on October 29. Froch believes he’s a much bigger puncher and will have to either chase Ward or prevent inside mauling tactics.

“A lot of people can’t come back here. He’s one that can…”

Fresh off of annihilating the “Outro” on Lil Wayne’s Carter IV, a behind the scenes video has surfaced for Nas’s latest single “Nasty.” The video takes Nas back to the Queensbridge projects, a highly appropriate environment given the song. Note that Nas got his wish of nabbing “the actress who played Faith Evans,” Antonique Smith, for this clip.

Talib Kweli has added some missing scenes to his ”Uh Oh” video, which tells the story of two disgruntled workers teaming up to take down a corrupt CEO. The version is much better and fleshes out the story as opposed to the one that dropped earlier this month. It makes you wonder why it wasn’t released first.
