TULSA, OKLAHOMA – Featherweight prospect Juan Carlos Burgos (26-1, 19 KOs) made short work of Frankie Archuleta (27-8-1, 14 KOs) earlier tonight with a 2nd round KO at the Million Dollar Elm Casino.
Archuleta’s downfall began with Burgos unraveled him with an overhand right. Archuleta was completely spun around and dropped by a follow-up left hook. Archuleta’s legs were unstable, and he soon met the canvas again from a jab-straight right. The end was near, and Archuleta’s night was finished when a left hook brought him to his knees for a third knockdown.
On the undercard , super-middleweight Maxim Vlasov (19-1, 10 KOs) suffered his first defeat at the hands of Isaac Chilemba (16-1-1, 8 KOs). The close bout was decided in round eight when Chilemba scored two crucial knockdowns despite a strong late-round rally from Vlasov. Final scorecards read 95-94 and 96-92 twice. Simpiwe Vetyeka (22-1, 13 KOs) scored a 3rd round KO over Roberto CarlosLeyva (27-13-1, 21 KOs) off a left hook to the liver.
